APA Style Format Basics
APA style format was developed in 1929 by the American Psychological Asssociation to standardize scientific writing. It establishes a simple set of rules for term papers, literature reviews, and articles in social science fields.
Formatting your paper involves organizing headings and setting up the details of spacing, margins, and typeface. It also requires that you give credit to the sources from which you found your information and that you present these sources correctly.
APA Style also presents guidelines for punctuation, capitalization, using abbreviations, and presenting numbers and tables.
In addition, it provides guidelines for writing your content clearly and concisely, as well as for reducing bias in language.
